"Parts is parts is parts".  Not true by any stretch of the imagination.  There are several categories and even sub-categories of parts, these are new, used, and rebuilt.

New - OEM
Original Equipment Manufacture - dealership parts - available through George's Jeep Parts.  If your local dealer can't find the part for you, call me.

Aftermarket
Replacement parts from your local parts stores whether it's an independent or a chain parts store.

NOS
These are OEM parts that are out of production/obsoleted by the manufacture.  For a restoration, nothing beats NOS parts.

Reproduction
Almost the same as aftermarket, except that you won't find these at your local parts store.  Repro parts you will find at vehicle specific dealers.  You can get a Jeep tie rod end at NAPA, but you can't   get a CJ hood or fender at NAPA.

Rebuilt, Remanufactured, Overhauled
This category is difficult to define, there are probably as many   definitions as there are shops that do this type of work.  Make sure that you understand what you are getting, what is the criteria for replacing a gear in a transmission, the chain in a chain drive transfer case, the camshaft in a motor - new or regrind?  Ask before you buy.  Be concerned if the guy at the local transmission shop says, to borrow a phrase, "I've always wanted to rebuild a transfer case."

Reconditioned
Defined here as a used part that has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected for hidden damage or excessive wear.  An example would be exhaust manifolds, we have them bead blasted to check for cracks or  warping, tapped holes are inspected for thread condition, and new studs for the exhaust pipe are installed.

Used
Used is used, a take off part, as is, what you see is what you get. The only guarantee is that it is the right part, not how roadworthy it is.

As the owner of George's Jeep Parts, I have an obligation to you, my customer, to provide the best parts available.  The rebuilders that I use have high standards, that is why I use them and why, if you buy one from me, you will probably pay a little more.  To paraphrase an old Fram Oil Filter commercial, "pay for it now or pay for it later."

Rebuilt parts currently available from George's Jeep Parts include the following, motors, transmissions, transfer cases, front and rear axles, starters, generators, power brake boosters, carburetors, distributors, steering boxes, and steering columns (limited availability).  These are not production line rebuilds, they are all built on an as needed basis.

For the military Jeep, the Genmarc line is coming back.  Some will recognize the name as a former manufacturer of reproduction body parts for WWII and early CJs.  For those of you not familiar with the name, until Genmarc shutdown, they produced some of the best quality reproduction sheet metal available.  After much time and effort, the line is back in limited production.  The production equipment was purchased and moved to Taiwan, R.O.C. by a company already long established in reproduction sheet metal parts.  The items listed in the catalog section are only the beginning.

Unfortunately some parts are gone forever, that is just the way it is.  The aftermarket segment is the only answer for many parts.  In an effort to keep more Jeeps on the road, George's Jeep Parts has numerous parts in the development stage for local production.  Some of the parts are duplicates of the original parts and some require adaptation that changes the form of the part, but not the function.  Unfortunately it is not possible to reproduce all of the parts that have faded into history.
